Every Service We Offer

Portillo Fences and Gates has been serving homeowners, property managers, and commercial clients since 2018. We cover every stage of a fencing project, from the first post to the last coat of finish, across the full range of materials, gate types, and automation systems.

If you don't see exactly what you need below, give us a call. Most projects have more options than homeowners expect, and we're happy to talk through what will actually work for your property.

Every Service We Offer — Portillo Fences and Gates

Residential and Commercial Fencing

Residential fencing covers backyard privacy fences, front yard decorative fencing, side-yard enclosures, and property line fences. We work with homeowners to choose the right height, material, and style for the lot, the neighborhood, and local code requirements.

Commercial fencing is a different challenge. Business owners, property managers, and general contractors need fencing that holds up to heavier use, satisfies liability requirements, and looks professional over the long term. We install perimeter fencing, security barriers, and parking lot enclosures for commercial properties throughout the Hudson Valley.

Every project starts the same way: a clear measurement of the site, confirmation of property lines, and a straight conversation about what the fence needs to do. Privacy, security, curb appeal, and code compliance are all part of the equation before any material gets ordered.

Wood, Vinyl, Aluminum, and Chain Link

We install four primary fence materials, each with its own strengths. Here's what to know before you decide.

Wood is the most versatile material we work with. It can be cut to custom heights, stained or painted to match your home, and built in styles ranging from classic picket to full board-on-board privacy. Wood requires periodic maintenance, including sealing and the occasional board replacement, but it's hard to match for warmth and character. We use pressure-treated lumber for all ground-contact posts to resist rot from the ground up.

Wood Fencing

Vinyl is the low-maintenance alternative to wood. It won't rot, splinter, or need repainting, and it holds its color for years without fading. It's a strong choice for homeowners who want a clean look without ongoing upkeep. We install vinyl in privacy, picket, and ranch rail styles for both backyards and front yard applications.

Vinyl Fencing

Aluminum gives you the clean, classic look of wrought iron without the maintenance burden. It's corrosion-resistant, available in powder-coated finishes including matte black, and works especially well for pool enclosures, decorative front yard fencing, and properties where you want visibility combined with a defined boundary. It's also one of the most code-compliant options for pool safety fencing.

Aluminum Fencing

Chain link is one of the most practical and budget-friendly options for securing a property. It's durable, see-through for visibility, and requires very little maintenance. We install chain link for residential yards, commercial perimeters, and properties where function matters more than style. Vinyl-coated chain link is available for a cleaner appearance if that's a priority.

Custom Fencing and Fence Repair

Not every property fits a standard fence configuration. Sloped yards, irregular lot shapes, tight clearances near structures, and mixed-use applications all call for a custom approach. We design and build fencing solutions for situations where off-the-shelf options won't work, using the materials and dimensions the project actually requires.

Fence repair is just as important as new installation. A leaning post, a rotted section, a damaged gate frame, or storm damage to a panel can compromise the entire fence if left alone. We handle repairs on fences we installed as well as fences from other contractors, and in many cases targeted repairs cost a fraction of full replacement while adding years of life to an existing structure.

If you're unsure whether your fence needs repair or replacement, we can walk the property with you and give you a straight assessment. We're not in the business of selling full replacements when a repair will do the job.

Pool Fencing

Pool fencing in New York isn't optional. State law requires a barrier around residential pools that meets specific height and gate latch requirements, and local municipalities often layer additional rules on top of those minimums. Getting this wrong creates real liability and can delay a certificate of occupancy.

We install pool fencing that meets New York code. Aluminum is the most common material for pool enclosures because it's corrosion-resistant, available in compliant heights, and looks clean around a pool deck. We also work in vinyl and aluminum railing configurations depending on the layout of the area.

Every pool fence installation includes a self-closing, self-latching gate that swings away from the pool. We confirm that the latch height and release mechanism meet the relevant safety standards before the job is complete.

Gate Installation, Automatic Gates, and Gate Repair

A gate is often the most-used part of a fence system, which means it's also the part most likely to need attention. We install swing gates and slide gates in wood, vinyl, aluminum, and steel, sized for pedestrian entry, single-car driveways, and double-wide driveway openings.

Automatic gates add convenience and security. We install and program gate automation systems for residential driveways and commercial entrances, including inground motors for properties where a visible post-mounted operator isn't the right fit. Inground motors keep the automation mechanism below the driveway surface, protected from weather and vehicle traffic, with a clean look that works well on higher-end residential properties.

Arm operators and slide operators handle different driveway configurations. Arm operators work well for swing gates with standard clearance on the opening side. Slide operators are better for properties where a swing gate can't open fully due to a slope or a short driveway. We assess the site and recommend the right operator type based on how the driveway is actually built.

Gate repair covers everything from a sagging hinge to a damaged frame to a failed automation motor. Whether the gate is manual or automated, we diagnose the problem and fix the specific issue rather than pushing for a full replacement when one isn't needed.

Access Control and DoorBird Systems

Automation determines that a gate can open; access control determines who can open it. We install keypads, card readers, remote entry systems, and intercom-based access control that integrate with your automated gate operator. This matters for both residential driveways and commercial entrances where you need to manage entry without being physically present.

DoorBird systems bring video intercom capability to the gate entrance. A DoorBird unit mounts at the gate and connects to your smartphone or tablet, letting you see who's there, speak with them, and trigger the gate opener remotely from anywhere. It's a practical upgrade for homeowners who receive frequent deliveries, have household staff, or simply want to see who's at the gate before opening it.

We handle the full installation, including wiring, mounting hardware, integration with the gate operator, and initial device setup. You don't need a separate technology contractor to make these systems work alongside your gate.

Steel Railings and Galvanizing

Railings are a natural extension of our fencing and gate work. We fabricate and install steel railings for stairs, decks, stoops, and elevated walkways on both residential and commercial properties. Steel railings can be built to match an existing fence aesthetic or designed as a standalone feature.

For properties close to water, in high-moisture environments, or in areas with road salt exposure, we offer galvanizing as part of our steel railing and custom metalwork services. Galvanizing applies a zinc coating to steel that significantly extends its resistance to rust and weathering, giving clients who want maximum longevity the best return on their installation.

Why Portillo Fences and Gates

There are a lot of fencing contractors advertising in the Hudson Valley. Here's what sets Portillo apart.

We carry full licensing and insurance on every job. That protects you from liability if something goes wrong on site and means you're working with a contractor who operates professionally.

Licensed and Insured

Most contractors specialize in one material or one type of job. We cover the full range, from basic chain link to custom steel fabrication to automated gate systems with video intercom. You don't need to hire multiple contractors to complete a fencing and gate project.

Full-Service Capability

Fence and gate codes vary by municipality across Putnam, Westchester, Dutchess, Orange, Ulster, and Rockland counties. We know how the permit process and height restrictions work in the towns and cities we serve, which means fewer delays and fewer surprises once the project starts.

Local Code Knowledge

If a repair is the right answer, we'll tell you that. We don't diagnose every service call as a full replacement opportunity. Our repair work is priced for what the job actually requires.

Repairs Without the Upsell

Posts get set below the frost line. Concrete cures before weight is applied. Gates are adjusted for level and swing before we leave the site. These aren't extras; they're the standard on every job we complete.

Consistent Work Quality
